Jenn Woosley: An Unbreakable Divorce Coach

Every month, we’re taking an inside look at the lives of two high-conflict divorce coaches. Whether you’re a prospective coach or client, we hope you’ll find inspiration and hope in each graduate’s story and personal reflections.

This week, meet Jenn Woosley: a recent graduate of the High Conflict Divorce Coach Certification Program (HCDCCP), and the third featured coach in our HCDC blog series.

From Dental Hygiene to High-Conflict Divorce Coaching

In her previous work as a dental hygienist, Jenn learned how to navigate “hard conversations” about health, habits, and goals. “Throughout my professional career, I’ve often felt like a therapist, as patients often share their lives and problems with me. People make the job, and so it was natural to want to stay in a helping profession.”

After 28 years in the dental field, Jenn realized she wanted to redirect her passion for helping people into coaching. “Throughout my life, I’ve met many unofficial coaches who passed their wisdom to me,” she reflected. Compelled by these mentors as well as her experiences as a mother, Jenn ultimately entered the field of divorce coaching.

Collecting Wisdom: An Ongoing Journey

Jenn developed her professional coaching skills through the HCDCCP, but her unique wisdom comes from personal experience. After experiencing five years of infertility and ultimately adopting her own child, Jenn found herself navigating single motherhood and co-parenting with a high-conflict individual. Through it all, her daughter – now a teenager – gave her reason to persevere.

“I’m grateful every day for my beautiful daughter, who has taught me so much about being a mom, and a person in general,” Jenn said. “She's a bright spot in my life.” Jenn expressed gratitude for other family members and close friends, who offered hope and support throughout her journey. Her dad is perhaps her “greatest supporter,” Jenn said, and his words continue to shape her actions as a mom, coach, and friend.

"‘Watch actions over words. Actions always speak louder than words,’ my dad always said. I now realize the complete wisdom of this advice.” Today, Jenn holds her dad’s words close to her heart, and his influence guides her philosophy as a business owner.

The HCDCCP program offered the basic tools and knowledge Jenn needed to start her coaching business – but beyond these fundamentals, the program also restored her confidence.

“A narcissistic relationship changes a person in so many ways,” said Jenn. “As a side effect of my relationship, I lost my self-esteem and ability to make decisions without fear. But by participating in the HCDCCP, I gained tools to communicate with a high-conflict ex, and a better way of documenting and advocating for myself.”

Taking Care of Herself and Others

The ability to share her newfound skills with other women is “incredibly empowering and rewarding,” Jenn said. As she gains experience and builds her business, Jenn also recognizes the importance of self-care for both herself and her clients.

“Self-care is different for everyone,” she notes, “but what it boils down to, in my opinion, is honoring yourself by finding opportunities for rest, joy and relaxation.” For Jenn, self-care looks like waking up before her daughter and savoring quiet time with her morning cup of coffee. She also draws inspiration from Bible verses, nature, joyful movement, and even memes: some motivating, others humorous.

“Humor and laughter: I try to have these in spades every day,” Jenn said. Fueled by these moments, Jenn believes that life is “all about love and growth.” As a divorce coach, clients and mentors come into her life with lessons to teach. Each lesson offers a chance to grow and show love for her clients, whose stories often reflect Jenn’s journey.

“If we allow it, our hardships can create a better version of ourselves,” said Jenn. Inspired by the strong women around her, Jenn continues to get up, dress up, and show up for her clients every day, with the belief that each one is unbreakable – regardless of where their stories begin.

“I am thankful that I can help others because of the pain I've experienced,” Jenn expressed. Informed and inspired by her past, she walks brightly into the future.
